How To Make Tapioca Pearls Efficiently At Home:

Nowadays, Tapioca Pearls are in great demand by people around the whole of Asia. This is because these pearls are used to make extraordinarily delicious and frothy Boba Bubble Teas. Also, these pearls can have different flavors according to the taste of the various Boba Bubble Teas.


For Making Tapioca Pearls:

1. 1 cup (135 g) + 2 tbsp Tapioca Starch (the extra 2 tbsp are for coating)

2. 6 tbsp (90 ml) water

3. 60 g brown sugar

For Making Sugar Syrup:

1. 1 cup brown sugar

2. 1 brown sugar slab (or 70 g normal brown sugar)

3. 100 ml (1/3 cup + 1 1/2 tbsp)


For Making Tapioca Pearls:

1. Take a small pot and add in the water and brown sugar. On low flame, dissolve the sugar in the water.

2. Bring the formed liquid to a boil over the lowest fire.

3. Add half of the Tapioca Starch to it and mix quickly.

4. Wait for 6-7 seconds, and then remove the pot from the fire.

5. After removing from fire, add in the remaining Tapioca starch and mix until gathered together. Be quick throughout the entire time.

6. Sprinkle the rest of the flour on a working board.

7. Now, transfer the smooth mixture prepared and knead it to form a dough using a scraper blade. (At first, the dough might feel sticky, so continue to knead it until it is non-sticky and smooth).

8. Now, split up the kneaded dough into four parts. As you will be using one of the portions, cover the other three portions using a plastic bag.

9. Shape the portion into a long log which should have a width of 1.5 cm.

10. Now, cut the log formed into little cubes.

11. The small cubes should then be shaped into little balls.

12. Then, take a large plate, place some flour and cover each ball with enough flour so that the balls do not stick to each other.

For Making Sugar Syrup:

1. Take a small pot and melt in 2 slices of the brown sugar slab and 1 cup of brown sugar along with 100 ml of water.

2. Heat them until bubbles are visible.

Note- Instead of preparing brown sugar syrup; you can use the store-bought brown sugar syrup.

For Cooking Tapioca Pearls:

1. Take a large pot filled with water (water level should be six times the volume of the pearls) and cook the pearls for about 20-30 minutes.

2. Now, shift the cooked balls into a bowl of cold water. By doing this, they will return to their original size immediately.

3. Then wash the pearls under running water.

4. Then drain them and mix them with the brown sugar syrup prepared (you can also use honey) to prevent them from sticking together.
